Scott was raised in Kailua where his family decided to settle after an active military life. From the age of eleven Scott's sports and hobbies have centered around the ocean and include surfing, spear fishing, and windsurfing (of which he was a highly ranked professional on the international tour). Scott attended elementary and middle school in Kailua and commuted to Punahou in town for high school. Scott went to College in San Diego before returning to Hawaii to graduate with a degree in business from Hawaii Pacific University.

Scott's real estate career has been one of consistent success. Within two years of starting real estate he obtained sales figures in excess of eleven million dollars. He has consistently been a top producing agent on Oahu. In 2007 Scott was ranked in the top fifty producing agents in Hawaii and as of mid 2008 is ranked top 15 statewide. He has been a licensed agent since 2000 and obtained the highest real estate designation of a brokers license in 2007.
